Linguee is a new kind of dictionary app for French-English, Spanish-English and other language pairs. You will find reliable translations in the shortest time, even when you're offline.

SPANISH-ENGLISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES
Dictionary for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Dutch, and Polish. All dictionaries are bidirectional - you search simultaneously in Spanish-English and English-Spanish.

EDITORIAL DICTIONARY
Our editorial dictionary was compiled by over 400 lexicographers in order to be capable of providing answers to the most difficult of queries.

TRANSLATION SEARCH
Additionally, with the help of the integrated translation search engine, you have access to over one billion translations from the Internet.

QUICK SEARCH
Translations of words and phrases are shown after entering just the first few letters. Even inadvertent typing errors are intelligently corrected.

OFFLINE MODE
The editorial dictionaries can be downloaded for free and are subsequently available for use even when you're offline. This allows you, for example, to look up terms while you are abroad and have no data connection.

Ratings and reviews

Been using this app for a good while mostly for French-English and less frequently for German-English and really do recommend it. It offers a good range of translations with allied usages which gives more accuracy and nuance. Haven't found one as good elsewhere. I may spend more time using it as I get interested in other phrases and look them up too. Great variety of quality examples provided in context.

As a 24/7 user of Linguee's precious desktop application, I was struggling with its flow of cumbersome, repetitive and distracting commercial ads, sometimes on controversial subjects such as gambling. I welcomed the ad free app with much relief, even if it meant handling an extra screen. The app is easy to use, especially with the larger screens, and all of Linguee's features are available. Neither versions seem to allow flagging of possible mistakes, though, which woul be a great addition.

A very good multilingual dictionary for those studying how to write and interpret foreign language. However it has no pronunciation, which makes it hard to use when travelling and conversing to foreigners. Also cannot handle any complex sentences so it's not perfect but otherwise the app has fantastic range of synonymic words and many different languages to choose between. Still a better learning tool than duolingo.
