I've joined the RAC as part of my car insurance cover. I received an email to download the app and register. I was up and running within minutes, and the app automatically identified my vehicle, it's MOTs and Tax due date. It did not pick up my insurance renewal date. The real test is how well it works if I break down. When I logged in again the finger print did not work, so I entered email and password. Biometrics is on. NO! It's too much trouble. Test&debug your code properly before release.

The app fails in its core duty of making summonsing assistance easier. It asks me if I want in to manage my phone calls but doesn't explain what that means. It tells me to find out my location but can't because according to it location setting is off. It has a settings button which when pressed doesn't mention anything about location setting.. It turns out it means the location setting on the phone itself. which in my case is already switched on and working perfectly in Google Maps etc. It does however give you all your membership details which are on the card you have in your wallet (!) and which in truth you don't need anyway, except the phone number as the records are all checked when you ring. A simple photo of the card kept on your phone would be just as useful. I do perhaps do it a slight dis service. It has warned me that if this is the quality of the RAC's electronic capabilities I will never rely on it and always make sure I speak to some one on the phone when making a request for road side assistance. In short this app,isn't worth the paper it is written on!

The information that must be entered into an online form to report a breakdown could be filled-in automatically. I will always call the RAC during a stressful breakdown situation instead of sitting on my phone typing. The Maps section is incredibly slow considering it is powered by Google and their own Maps app is very fast. News doesn't really seem useful. The reminders for insurance, etc. make me suspicious that they really want it for marketing reasons so I left it all blank.
