"JR East App" is an official app that provides useful travel information for everyone who uses stations and railways (trains and Shinkansen).

We provide information such as transfer information (all over Japan), operation information (mainly in the JR East area), timetables, station maps, coin locker availability information, and Suica card balances.

Every day, we make small improvements to the JR East app based on the feedback we receive from users and concerns about transportation.

Search results are visually arranged, so you can quickly and intuitively choose the route that is best for you.

○ Real-time operation information in the East Japan area
In addition to service information for each of our lines, you can also view information from the ``emergency guidance displays'' (distributing map-based service information and alternative boarding routes) installed at major stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

○ You can see where the train you want to ride is located.
You can see the location, delay time, and estimated arrival time of trains running on major routes in the JR East area in real time.

○ You can immediately check JR East station information
You can immediately check the information you need at the station, such as timetables and station maps for each of our stations (approximately 1,700 stations).

○ You can also enjoy useful information and entertainment information
You can view a wide range of information, from recommended information about the JR East Group to free e-books and local news. The secretly popular game “Trasugo” is also available!

○ Deliver information about the running Yamanote Line! (Yamanote Line Train Net)
Regarding the Yamanote Line, we provide information on stopping stations according to the passenger's boarding location and section (transfer route, platform guide map, station map), as well as the congestion status and internal temperature of each train on the train (while it is running). You can take a look.

○ It also works with the Tokyo Metro app, Tokyu Line app, Keio app, Seibu Line app, Odakyu app, Tobu Line app, Keisei app, Keikyu Line app, Sotetsu Line app, Shin-Keisei app, and Toei Transportation app!

Ratings and reviews

Not a friendly app for foreigners like me living in japan.. there is no translation in english.. hard to use..

I'm travelling in Japan now, but lived in Tokyo for 3 years, so I know the transit fairly well. For the most part I found the information in the app was really helpful and I've been using it a lot. But I was surprised at the routes that it recommended because I know of other routes that are more direct and cheaper. For example, to go from Tokyo to Shinjuku the route it recommended was Yamanote line to Akihabara and transfer to Sobu line. When the most direct route is just the Chuo line, with no transfer. There were quite a few examples of odd route choices that makes me wonder how route optimization is being calculated. I noticed comments about how this latest version of the app, including the English version, are a lot less useful than the old one. My guess is that it's been made simpler for the benefit of tourists coming for the 2020 Olympics.

Used to be a very clean and swift app. After the recent update, it has become a very complicated and dump app. Very difficult to search for a route between stations unless you are a local Japanese and knows exactly the routes and lines of the complicated Japan railway system. Better restore to the previous version, or at least provide the old version as an option.
