Once upon a time, I'd have given this app 4.5 stars, but everything has gone off the rails since February 2026. I'd complain inside the app, but it simply won't stay open; it fails within seconds of opening, if it opens at all. Android's error message said the app is incompatible with an Android program, but I don't remember what it said. Besides, I've got a Galaxy S25 Ultra that's 100% updated, so I assess that it's 100% WaPo's problem to figure out what's wrong with their app.

Display is terrible. It doesn't adjust to screen size properly. They display as a little column of words down the middle, with both left and right margins far wider than the column of words. Such a waste of space, and the need to scroll. ALL the dozen or so other news apps I have, along with the main screen of this one display properly. Downgraded to one star because issue wasn't resolved and case closed. So what if my phone doesn't receive Android updates? It still gets daily app updates.

Thanks for your feedback—we’re glad you’re enjoying the articles. The centered column layout is designed for readability and may appear with wider margins on some devices, especially dual-screen devices like Surface Duo 2, which is no longer receiving software updates. We’ll share your feedback with our team.

Articles, reporting, and opinions are always on point and truthful, not politically motivated. News stories are always based on fact, not on speculation or misinformation. And always updated frequently and current. I agree, though, with past reviews that the multiple ads are excessive and unnecessary, especially if I and other subscribers are paying to read the news articles.
