About this app

White Noise for Staying On Task

For adults with ADHD, distractions can make staying on task a more significant challenge than usual.

If you have trouble shutting out the world when you need to study, write, paint, spark creativity, sleep, or get down to business at work, this free service is perfect for your needs.

Often someone who has ADHD can think better and stay on task longer if there is some white noise in her surroundingsā€”maybe softly playing music, a fan in the corner, or the hum from an overhead air vent. So far, researchers have found benefits for those with inattention but not impulsivity, but the benefits of white noise donā€™t continue when it is no longer present. In the real world, people cannot control the sounds that surround them throughout the day. Although researchers are exploring whether white noise may provide complementary support for some people with inattentive ADHD, the evidence is inconclusive.

Research on white noise for inattentive ADHD

Most research on white noise has focused on children still in elementary or middle school; however, the results seem to be applicable also to teens and adults. For adults working from home at this time, having white noise available could be beneficial when it comes to staying on task.

Terrible app. Was nice before because you can play calming sounds in airplane mode, but now the "free" version clunky and unusable and forcing users to pay to "fix" it. I came up with a better solution. No extra apps downloaded, takes up less storage, it is free, uses no data, and works just like ADHD White Noise used to. I downloaded a short file of brown noise and set my VLC to loop the sound. Done. Now I can uninstall the "free" app.

I use to love this app. I thought it was amazing that there was an app that can help me sleep and just drown out thw noises without ads or a fee. Now that the updated it there is a clicking noise every 10 seconds and if you want it on in the background you have to pay. I don't have the kind of money to spend on something like this and now I have to go find another app. This is so disappointing.

This app was brilliant and great for helping me concentrate, but the new update has ruined it. Every noise track has constant loud audio glitches, which destroy the whole point of the app in the first place. While I would've paid for an upgraded version before, I refuse to pay for something when the free version doesn't even work. As usual, greedy corporate scum bags get their grimy fingers over everything and ruin a genuinely good product.
