This is app is an absolute must for any linguists or culture vultures! I signed up to improve my French for my ALevels, and to just chat with some locals about customs, however I've not only been able to do that, but also make new friends within a week of downloading the app, find people with the same passions as me, and discuss them between languages, but also teach English and all things British customs to people my age! It's been an absolutely amazing experience, and would do defo recommend!

Very diverse clients appearing from time to time. However there are some people who are using it not just to learn languages but to find partners... I find it expensive to study the language on hellotalk, and it doesn't teach me from scratch but jumping in the middle of sentences. It definitely doesn't work for me. Other than that it's a great app and I met some really nice, friendly people here.

There's a lot of ads and they make the skip feature more likely to send you to an external ad website when you press it. Other ads are often undesirable and against the stated ethos of the app. Many people on the app cannot hold a conversation in their own language, let alone a new one, but that's not the app's fault. It can be a good way to find a language partner, but it's often hard work to sift through the dross.
