App Access Permissions:

Optional permissions:

- Location information: Required to use the Nearby feature to see members near you, the Travel feature to show members around the world and to add an approximate location to your profile.
- Microphone: Required for sending audio messages, making audio and video calls, and joining Language Parties.
- Camera: Required for taking photos to upload to your profile or post in a Language Club, take and send a photo in a chat, video calling, and scanning QR codes.
- Notifications: Used to send you notifications about acceptance into the community, new messages, new followers and their posts, new references and marketing communication.
- Nearby devices: Bluetooth access is required to connect audio devices during a call or Language Party.

You can still use Tandem without granting optional permissions, except features where their nature requires the respective permission, like a video call requiring camera permission.

this app ended up being much better than I even thought it ever would. I was just kind of looking for things to do. it started out being really awkward but after you rip off the Band-Aid and do a few, it's much easier than you think it's going to be, especially with all the supplemental tools. and I really feel like I'm learning and thinking in French automatically. so much faster than doing the same amount of time on Duolingo or whatever. and I say that as somebody w/ a 500 streak

Hi I love this app, but as a free user, PLEASE change the ad feature!! I don't care about ads, but there is an ad every 2 seconds that I can't even click around the app because it keeps taking me to the ad sites. If you don't you will just keep losing more users!! we hate this feature. Make the ads less pop up and taking over the whole screen please. My phone should not feel like timessquare. it also slows down the app too

It's so frustrating how they literally never respond to any sort of contact support. In response to this review they will either ignore it or probably just send another automated message telling me to email them when I already have and I've used their website support desk. I understand they have a "sudden influx of requests" but that has been an ongoing issue for months and they need to figure something out.
