- Location: Used to show your location when you use the map, directions, navigation, and more. (Allow all the time must be selected to display location information in the widget.)
- Microphone: Used for voice search and Clova voice commands.
- Physical activity: Used to detect your step count in walking directions. (Only on devices running OS 10.0 or later)
- Phone: Used to check call status and make calls when entering and using navigation.
- Call logs: Accessed to confirm recipients when making calls or sending messages during navigation. (Call logs are no longer used as of NAVER Maps v6.3.)
- SMS: Used to send messages during navigation. (SMS is no longer used as of NAVER Maps v6.3.)
- Contacts: Used to make calls with Clova voice commands and to save phone numbers from place search results.

Ratings and reviews

Not very helpful in making it easy to put locations or names in to find places when you have the korean or english name of a business. Even worse when you try to put in the address of a place. Been in Korea for over a month and have basically had to old school my way to about half of the locations I have wanted to go because the app fails to find the locations via their korea/english name.

Absolutely terrible app for searching locations. 99% of the time it doesn't get any results or something completely wrong. Everyone says "use naver instead of Google maps" if you travel to south Korea, but after traveling through all of south Korea, google maps works 1000 times better. Only for walking routes and public transportation it's actually working.

It works well and is better than Google in South Korea. It is available with directions in English and gives a lot of the details about public transport. It was especially helpful when using the metro. I used it on Jeju Island, Seoul and Busan and it worked well in all three locations. I only had some difficulty in using the walking directions as the arrow pointing the direction was small.
