It's a good app, but it's NOT a universal map. It works best if you find your destination address with a browser, as the names in OSM don't always match. Due to size limits, searching by street numbers is not possible and this severely limits your options. The app goes nuts if your GPS is broken, and you can't just follow the route by moving the map with fingers, as popups keep reappearing. Maps.me is best if you just move to points you know in advance, using the best in class bookmark system
When importing bookmarks i would like to be given the choise of color of bookmarkpina as well, they are always red now... oh yeah, the navigation is off now, when taking a turn to the left or right it saying 'go straight' but it must be 'go left / go right'. The blue routemarker is also not pointing to left or right, just straight.
When I used this in the USA in 2016 many places where unknown to the app, but now in Laos it's working extremely well! I love how easily you can bookmark places, which is not easy with Google maps. Google maps offline doesn't work in many Asian countries, but maps.me does.
The current version works well with my Galaxy S7 except for storage. I told the settings to store the maps on the SD card. But every time the app updates, my maps return to my phone, and I have to move them back to the SD card. After which time, map updates save to the SD card. Next app update comes, and I have to move maps again. (I think the storage is an Android issue.) I have this app on an iPhone, too, and bookmarks were easy to transfer.
Very Good!! Fast and Simple, But No Alternative Route Option. Previously I used Sygic, But recently Sygic has a glitch that prevents my phone from loading maps. Then, I try Maps Me. The plus if compared to Sygic: (1) Faster & more simple (2) Can retrieve location from Google Location Services (3) Free voice instructions (4) No Background Process (5) Can choose which part of my country that i want to download. The minus: (1) OSM has fewer POI & street name than TomTom in Sygic (2) Map looks ugly (3) No alternative route option (4) Font too large.
Nice interface and map display. Address search is very good. Gets you from point A to B. Other than that, the features are extremely limited, e.g. no route customization, such as avoiding toll roads. Take a look at OsmAnd for a full-featired but at times overly complicated alternative.
