I used the app in Spain. Comped with other navigation apps, gaode's advantage is: it provided oral guidance which lane I should use or not use, before approaching the crossings. Google and Waze does bad at this point. The disadvantage is it doesn't support offline map and the communication speed with the server is slow. Hope the team could improve this soon.

It contains a very detailed database about all locations in China, and the interface is really smart, but I can't use it before I learn to write in Chinese. So it's useless for tourists like me. If you at least invest in a few European translations, this app could take over all other navigation apps.

Nearly unusable for foreigners now. There are constant popups to login, but to login requires a mainland Chinese phone number. If it were easier to get one this wouldn't be a problem, but the real name verification is frequently paused for foreigners so depending on when you visit it may not even be possible.
