About this app

The Alaska 511 app provides travelers with state-wide traffic and road condition reporting, covering major highways in Anchorage, Delta Junction, Fairbanks, Glennallen, Haines/Skagway, Juneau, Kenai, Tok, Wasilla/Palmer, Valdez and more.

Providing a user-friendly map based interface, the simple navigation through the app’s features creates a seamless travel experience for users. Utilizing GPS location, the app presents traffic information from the user’s current location.

This feature-filled app includes:
- Real-time updates of traffic information based on the user’s GPS location
- Camera images of roadway conditions, incidents, construction, and other hazards
- A Feedback feature to submit AKDOT traffic incidents with easy to use voice recording
- Quick-select location options by map, highway, or a specific community
- A zoom-enabled map with clickable traffic icons
- Traffic reports of current GPS location

Know before you go! Check the Alaska 511 app before getting on the road. Have a passenger check updated traffic information while driving or pull over safely to avoid distracted driving.

Ratings and reviews

Was a great app. It updated, and now it doesn't show construction/ work zones. it's turned on but shows nothing. I literally have construction going on in "Every" direction on every road around my place. They all showed before the update. I even uninstalled and reinstalled this app. Still, according to this app, there is ZERO construction going on anywhere in Alaska right now. How we wish that were true. This is on a fully updated S23 Ultra.

Today is August 26, 2025. Two comments: 1) Why is the 511 App map cluttered with incidents from January and February 2025!!?? Clearing these 8 month old incidents from the map would help users focus on relevant concerns. 2) PLEASE change the highway mile markers so that they appear on top of the highway. They are under the highway, partially covered and unreadable.

Terrible functionality. You have to scroll across a map of the state to find the road conditions and cameras you want to check as opposed to the lists of Highways and Communities you could choose from in the old app. Then much of the functionality for the app requires you to register a username and password. No thanks. This new app sucks. Thanks for wasting tax dollars on this, State of Alaska.
