About this app

Meet Oova: the hormone translator that quantitatively measures luteinizing hormone (LH), E3G (an estrogen metabolite), and PdG (a progesterone metabolite) through an at-home urine test. Oova’s Hormone Kit tracks, predicts, and confirms ovulation with precision.

Lab accuracy in your home:
Oova was designed in partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City to build a tool that doctors and patients can feel confident using. Scientists, engineers, and doctors designed Oova to be the most medically trusted at-home hormone test.

Completely personalized experience:
Oova measures your hormone levels quantitatively to provide valuable insights, rather than comparing your data to some standard threshold or the “perfect" 28-day cycle. Oova learns what your personal cycle trends are and detects your fertile window from there. Our algorithm tells you exactly which days to test, so not a cent, day, or pee, is wasted!

Track as little or as much as you want:
Customize data logging to track what’s most relevant to you. You can choose from a variety of categories including mood, exercise, cervical mucus, symptoms, and medications. All of this information (paired with your hormone levels) allows Oova to get smarter and learn your unique hormone baseline.

Use Oova with your healthcare provider:
Oova allows doctors and clinicians to provide unprecedented remote care. If you’re working with a doctor, your provider will be able to see your data in our HIPAA-compliant dashboard, as soon as you scan your Oova strip. You no longer have to worry about what your doctor wants or needs to know. Oova takes care of that for you.

How it works:
Register in the app and activate your Oova Hormone Kit. On a testing day, provide a urine sample on the test strip (either midstream or by dipping it into a cup), and scan the strip with the camera on your smartphone. Our algorithm will analyze your strip to calculate how much luteinizing hormone, PdG, and E3G is present. Within minutes, you’ll know exactly where you are in your cycle and be provided with resources to help guide your journey.

SUPPORT FOR WEAR OS DEVICES:
The OOVA Wear OS app allows users to view the day of their cycle for the current day and the scan results for that particular day. Additionally, users can track the 10-minute countdown leading up to their scan.
Users can check their cycle day with Oova Cycle Day complication too.

Honestly I really liked the idea behind oova (hence why I bought it) and I think in a year or two it could be really really great. But to be honest I feel like I spent $150 on one month worth of tests to be part of a beta program. I don't find the app to be particularly user friendly, the scanning doesn't seem to be as consistent as you would hope for the cost, and I ran into a major bug where the app is telling me I ovulated on cycle day 1. There are better options for this price point.

The app constantly malfunctions. There are no live graphs of your data. You can only generate reports, but that function doesn't work often. There's no other way to download your data. Support replies quickly, but I haven't seen any big fixes yet. Just not ready for prime time. Maybe it's better on iOS. Not sure. Also the design is terrible - yes it's pretty but it's not good ux. Having to page through a long questionnaire that is slow to load makes me not want to track many symptoms. Sigh.

For being an expensive kit the app doesn't work. Today was my 4th day of scanning but suddenly on the calendar my last period disappeared and the scans from the last 3 days moved to that week and showed I ovulated right before my period? I've tried to update the app and look at settings but it doesn't work. Save your money
