About this app

Steady Hands: Smart Hand Tremor Tracker

Living with a tremor can feel unpredictable. Steady Hands is a private, easy-to-use app designed to help you monitor and understand symptoms related to Essential Tremor, Parkinson's disease, or general hand tremors not linked to a specific medical condition. Using the science-backed technology built into your smartphone, Steady Hands generates objective, reliable data about your tremors, empowering you and your healthcare provider to make more informed decisions about your care.

Gain Deeper Insights with Key Features:

Objective Tremor Analysis: Go beyond subjective feelings. Steady Hands uses simple, guided tests to quantify your specific tremor patterns—including resting, postural (holding a position), and kinetic (action-based) tremors.

Hand Stability Score: Receive a clear stability score from 1 (extreme tremor, low stability) to 10 (no tremor, perfect stability) after each assessment. Track your progress, identify patterns, and monitor how treatments or lifestyle changes impact your tremor over time.

Advanced Pattern Recognition: Benefit from advanced algorithms that provide a similarity score, indicating how your tremor characteristics compare to typical patterns seen in Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s disease. This provides an additional layer of personalized insight into your symptoms.

Shareable Reports for Your Doctor: Easily export detailed, understandable reports to discuss with your healthcare provider. Objective data makes your consultations more productive, clearly illustrating your symptoms between appointments.

Who Can Benefit?
• Individuals managing Essential Tremor or Parkinson’s disease
• Caregivers seeking objective symptom tracking
• Precision-focused professionals (surgeons, archers, athletes) aiming to enhance hand stability

How It Works:
Drawing Assessments: Trace shapes on your phone screen or paper to assess kinetic tremors easily.
Sensor-based Tests: Hold your smartphone steady for 30 seconds to measure resting and postural tremors.
Instant, Clear Feedback: Visualize your results immediately, helping you stay informed and empowered.

Note: Steady Hands is a wellness and monitoring tool, not a standalone diagnostic or emergency medical device. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical evaluation and decisions.

Download Steady Hands today and take control of your tremor management journey!

This rating is kind, as I have only been able to make it work once. It was a good app that one time, though a description of each stat and maybe norms would be helpful to the average user's understanding. It says I have denied the app permissions (I have not), and that the app cannot be used without permission. Force stopped, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted phone, disabled and re-allowed permissions, etc. No change. I was assessing it for use with my patients, but I need something reliable.

Hi, Michelle, We are sorry for the issues. Good news is that everything is fixed and ready for use. If you'll decide to review the app again, do not hesitate to give us feedback. It's very valuable for us. Especially when it comes from professional. Take a note that the "Drawing" is fully tested tool. Glass and Tapping are still in development.

Misjudges healthy people with low scores (tapping) and provides unvalidated responses. Methods seem to have no scientific or medical ground, and appear aimed at purchasing a product. Also, asks for permission to access media and files without explaining why. Although most of the app can work without it, an irritating error message keeps popping up warning the user the app can't be used without it.

App indicates that the "tapping" is still in a development. Other methods are used in neurology for more than 10 years. The permissions are necessary for the app to work, e.g. without file storage we can't save the data. This makes it impossible to function. Thank you for the feedback. We will make sure to add explanations in the latest update.

The tapping test has disappeared from my app and I miss it! I use the app for quick comparisons when I'm in a DBS programming session. The tapping is useful to gauge how much I have to concentrate to initiate each touch. When we have the programming in a good place I can tap away with little hesitation. Of course, the drawing is especially helpful to do over and over as we try different settings.

Thank you for the kind words, Susan! We promise that the tapping will come back soon. We've temporarily taken it down to enhance its precision and overall performance.
