I purchased "Primal TV Launcher" because I have an older phone that can output a 16:9 video signal over its USB-C port using "Alt Mode". This feature allows me to use it as a TV box and retro game console; but, "phone" launchers aren't ideal for that usecase. A big plus for me is that "Primal" works perfectly using just a game controller. It does everything I need it to do and looks great to boot. I'm looking at buying a Retroid handheld soon, and this launcher will be installed on it too.

Super clean, snappy launcher for Android TV. Gets rid of much of the bloat of the default home screen. You need a bit of technical knowhow to disable the default launcher, but it's quick to accomplish. The default version of primal is too minimalistic for my tastes, but it's nicely customizable and I was able to tweak it to my likings in a few minutes.

Saw my first full screen restaurant ad on the stock launcher today so I finally broke and downloaded this. World. Changing. ETA: Sorry to report that as of about a week ago, the "set as default launcher" feature no longer sticks. My CCwGTV keeps quietly returning to the stock home screen when I hit Home, at least the first time. Looks like I'll need to manually disable it via ADB, unless this can be fixed via an update?
Hi Arien,
Many thanks for your 5 star review!
I can confirm that using ADB commands is the best solution! Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do via the code. As you have seen some devices simply do not behave as expected all the time! Note that you could map a different button and avoid the home key!
All the best,
