About this app

bismark bs-16i is a 16 multi-timbral playback sampler. It loads SoundFont and DLS (Downloadable Sounds) as WaveTable and can be used for keyboard instruments, MIDI sound modules, and MIDI file players.

bs-16i has the synthesizer engine that has been adopted for many professional/commercial types of equipment. Using SoundFont / DLS libraries, you can play with your great number of instruments. The engine included as default, includes the high-quality and low-noise audio outputs by 100% floating-point calculations.

All standard MIDI messages are supported, and your Phone and Tablet can be used as a GM (General MIDI) sound module by using pre-installed GeneralUser GS SoftSynth v1.44.sf2 (S. Christian Collins).

As a keyboard instrument, you can play with the scalable screen keyboard, pitch bend wheel, and many control change controllers.

The internal MIDI file player supports SMF (Standard MIDI File) format as Song.

WaveTable / Song files can be imported from your Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

Moreover, this application supports MIDI interfaces via USB and Bluetooth. With them, you can communicate with other external MIDI hardware like a synthesizer, or sequencer. Also, bs-16i can be a background and drive from other apps using MIDI.

Please be careful that the sound latency depends on each Android phone/tablet. So, this app is distributed as a free app and can be tested with all features free until 5 min from app launch. If it is OK for you, please remove this time limitation by In-App Purchase.

- To load the specified SoundFont / DLS file, the device has to ready free memory larger than its file size of it.
- This application collects the following information: Device name, OS version, SoundFont / DLS file name.

it's good, but i don't think unlimited time should be a premium feature, ESPECIALLY for 11 dollars. if we can just relaunch the app to continue playing, there's no point of paying to get rid of the time limit. it's also annoying when the time limit popup pops up.

It seemed ok playing from the default sound library, but the UI for loading sound fonts is quite unintuitive and very buggy. I couldn't get it to work, and the very short trial window made that harder, and convinced me to give up after a few goes. Playing a midi instrument through Audio Evolution Mobile is a lot more reliable and powerful, though requires a bit more setup each time I start the app, so will stick to that...

If I had been able to really try it out other than just verify that it detects my midi instrument, I might have considered it, but 5 minutes is a ridiculously short amount of time to decide if spending so much money is justified. Without knowing if it's worth it, I'm forced to uninstall instead. Sorry, but Fluidsynth works OK for what I use it for and is free.
