About this app

NetGuard is an internet security app, which offers simple and advanced ways to restrict apps' access to the internet.

Applications and addresses can individually be allowed or denied access to your Wi-Fi and/or mobile connection. Root permissions are not required.

Blocking access to the internet can help:

• reduce your data usage
• save your battery
• increase your privacy

Features:

• Simple to use
• No root required
• 100% open source
• No calling home
• No tracking or analytics
• No advertisements
• Actively developed and supported
• Android 5.1 and later supported
• IPv4/IPv6 TCP/UDP supported
• Tethering supported
• Optionally allow when screen on
• Optionally block when roaming
• Optionally block system applications
• Optionally notify when an application accesses the internet
• Optionally record network usage per application per address
• Material design theme with light and dark theme

PRO features:

• Log all outgoing traffic; search and filter access attempts; export PCAP files to analyze traffic
• Allow/block individual addresses per application
• New application notifications; configure NetGuard directly from the notification
• Display network speed graph in a status bar notification
• Select from five additional themes in both light and dark version

There is no other no-root firewall offering all these features.

If you like to test new features, you can participate in the test program: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.faircode.netguard

All required permissions are described here: https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard/blob/master/FAQ.md#user-content-faq42

NetGuard uses the Android VPNService to route traffic to itself, so it can be filtered on-device instead of on a server. Only one app can use this service at the same time, which is a limitation of Android.

Been using this for years but I don't know what you've done to it. I updated it recently and it won't work. Keeps turning itself off. Items I've allowed will become blocked and vise versa. Went to phone settings to keep it on at all times. Stays on now but blocks everything single thing from the internet even though I have quite a few apps on green (allowed). Had to turn it off just to leave this comment. Button stays red even when on. Used to be green. Other issues.

There were no updates recently, so nothing was changed. You are already using the app for years, but you still run to rate 1* in the Play Store and don't give me any change to look into your problems. That's not fair and doesn't solve any problems either. Please remove your review and contact me for support and give me a chance first.

If you get this app, get the version from GitHub. It has rest of features that aren't allowed on version from Google Play, because Google doesn't like apps that can filter out their data collection and ad traffic. I am super grateful for the ability to filter out tracking sure traffic, ad servers, and other suspicious and unnecessary traffic from my browser.

Simply a great app. Block those individual annoying apps that continue to reinstall, connect to the net, track, display adds, update automatically, reduce privacy, use power & resources, and prevent optimum performance.... without rooting. FYI: Have also been testing the email app and to date, it has performed remarkably well. VERY impressive.
