About this app

impcat (short for Interactive Miniature Painting Catalogue) is a simulator for photorealistic painting results on gaming and tabletop miniatures.

This tool gives you a variety of miniature images that you can select and then paint with colours you own or perhaps wish to purchase. It works with predefined colour palettes, using names and values as promoted by their manufacturers.

To achieve a high quality result the system simulates a four step painting process:
Base colouring, layering, shading and highlighting.

Features:
- A list of 6 biult-in miniatures, provided by Artel "W".
- A list of built-in colour palettes, containing Vallejo Model Color and Vallejo Game Color (308 colours in total).
- Access to miniature template and colour palette DLCs that instantly get updated as soon as we upload new content (completely free, no micro-transactions of any kind).
- An complement recommendation mode that lets you select a base colour and then automatically applies harmonizing layer, shade and highlight paints, which you can then customize at will.
- A photorealistic simulation of the applied paints.
- A shopping list generator that collects the data of all applied colours and gives you the links to the corresponding shop pages.
- A colour mixer tool (to mix predefined paints in multiple steps)
- A colour creator tool (to create and collect your own colours)
- A randomiser tool that randomly distributes colours across a model

Its damn good. I did need to download the Citadel colors and the Riptide model, and it was hard to use at first, but it does what is says it does. Just remember these things and you'll be fine; if you want to add something to the app to check the downloads folder, you need to have the model on screen to load a saved color scheme, and if all else fails to visit r/Impcat and ask there/check the supplied links. I would like to see more models added/included with the app, notably gw ones but its ok.

Awesome app! Great as is but I'd love more models. I'm sure other folks would like to see some GW paints in there. An idea would be an in app way to add paints to your collection from other sets (showing which Vallejo paints you own for example), currently you can only add by a color picker or from the currently painted model. Just throwing ideas out, none of this subtracts points for me.

Great app as long as you don't use the back button. Everything works great until 15 minutes into a model I hit the back button to close the color selection menu and the whole model goes black. 5 stars if this is fixed. Until then it's just a time killer because inevitably I will forget that the back button breaks the model and I get frustrated and walk away. This bug makes the app useless for me.
