According to the document TS13206 published by Turkish Standards Institute in April 2006, the characteristics of the Ottoman Turkish Keyboard are as follows:
"While this keyboard was being prepared, the layout of Turkish Q and F keyboards we use today served as basis. The common letters in both alphabets were placed at the same place (i.e. Arabic "ر" is at the same position with Latin "r", and "ت" is at the same position with "t"). In both alphabets, non-common letters are placed in appropriate positions depending on the sound and shape similarities. It also contains all the symbols that enable writing in Arabic and Persian."
