This is the Android TV app. Some people are stating that it loads and freezes or the buttons don't work. That is probably because they installed this app on the phone/tablet. This app is for the TV only. FYI, there is a different Kanopy app for the phone/tablet. Anyway, Kanopy has a pretty good selection... and it's free. You can't beat that.

The public library offers 6 free "plays" on Kanopy, but the app is terrible on my Roku. It forces me to watch a movie without any interruptions, because any attempt to pause or rewind makes this app crash, and lose my play token. The interface is very frustrating: there's no sort or filter, there are only pre-defined categories, and scrolling has a lag (I have 75 Mbps downstream speed, and no other devices connected, so my connection is not the problem. Other apps work flawlessly) without any indication such as a wheel spinning that it has not reached the end of the list. In summary, this app is buggy and can't perform even the most basic functionality. Hoopla is way better, also free via the library.

While I love Kanopy this version of the App has problems. The last I checked, the videos will play fine at their regular resolution, HOWEVER the UI is like zoomed in where you only see the top left-ish say 60-70% of the screen. The last time I tried it on my FireTV with the version from the Amazon store, that displays normal. I JUST tried the regular "phone" Kanopy App and while the UI is made for phones, i can at least see everything I am suppose to. 3.0 was last updated in 2021 btw
