About this app

Sprint, distance, XC, and field events coaches work so hard each season and this app should simplify results and make it easier to optimize your meet lineups based on actual team results. Squad Timing is not just a stopwatch, it is an amazing platform for graphing and storing a database of meet performances in every event for a multitude of athletes. It is the most efficient way to time and save meet performances for one person, or a team of over a hundred athletes. Coaches who typically track meet data in spreadsheets can easily save hundreds of hours entering data over the course of a season with this app. Athletes can chart their progress over time in both running and field events.

You may try the free version (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paulschorey.squadtiming) which allows a limited number of saved event results, and if you like the app, it's very cheap to upgrade to the full version here, which allows unlimited saves. This app has no ads! The only data collected is what you enter and save, and it is only on your device. Your data is not shared with the developer or anybody else unless you email results to someone.

The idea for this app developed from experience coaching over 100 athletes each season for the past several years. Now instead of having several coaches at the finish line recording splits and writing down results, one person with this app on their iPhone or iPad can quickly and efficiently save accurate times for every event and every member of your team (even when they are in the same race). The best part about using Squad Timing is that after the meet is over, you can save the results spreadsheet to your files or email it and not need to spend hours re-recording handwritten results.

The default track and field (or Cross Country) events in Squad Timing are: 4x800m Relay, 100m Hurdles, 110m Hurdles, 100m Dash, 1600m Run, 4x100m Relay, 400m Dash, 300m Hurdles, 800m Run, 200m Dash, 3200m Run, 4x400m Relay, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Pole Vault.

Alternate events that can be included if you choose are: Trials for all the sprints, 400m Hurdles, 2000m Steeplechase, 3000m Steeplechase, 1500m Run, 3000m Run, (5k, 5000m Run), (10k, 10,000m Run), Triple Jump, Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw, Distance Medley Relay, Sprint Medley Relay, 4x200m Relay, 4x1500m Relay, 4x1600m Relay, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, 60m Dash, 60m Hurdles, 50m Dash, 50m Hurdles, 55m Dash, 55m Hurdles, 100y Dash, Mile Run.

All events can be reordered in any way that you choose, this makes the stopwatch very convenient for coaches to record your entire team’s results as the meet progress, or altered to follow only the events that your athlete participates in. You can also alternate the events by gender if you coach both male and female athletes.

I would love to hear any suggestions or ideas that you have for the app to help make it better for your needs.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or bugs to report please email me at squadtiming@gmail.com and I will see what I can do.
