I'm giving this 5 stars preemptively because it has been thorough for the first two chapters. This app seems to be targeted at "British style" crosswords. As someone that does only the "American" variety and understands very little British vernacular, it has still been very helpful in opening my eyes to the vague clues that often prevent me from finishing "weekend puzzles" (although it has done nothing for my lack of pop-culture knowledge).

My husband taught me these puzzles years ago. My brain hurt as he was teaching me, but I came to love the puzzles. If this app was around at that time, I would've caught on so much quicker. As I'm going thru the app, I'm imagining introducing this kind of puzzle to someone else. My husband has passed away and is with Jesus now, but this was a great reminder of those days when he took the time to show me how to do this/these puzzle(s).

Disappointed to discover that only one of the six chapters described in such detail is actually included. The remaining five cost 4.99, a higher than average price for an app with fixed content. [Update: I now see that the fact it's only 1 out of the 6 chapters is now noted at end of description so adding a star back] Chapter 1 is well done in terms of content, however the exercises have a number of bugs (ex: screen for the Wordplay clues for the Hidden subchapter do not carry the answer back to the main screen nor do they track your progress correctly). If the sample chapter has a number of little annoyances, that makes me wonder what the unseen chapters are like. That being said, they don't affect the content, just makes it awkward to practice at times. On the plus side, it appears the reference section is available, which is potentially very useful! If you've never done cryptics before, this would be a good intro, based on Chapter 1, especially since good books are hard to find. If you already know how to do them, it seems a little basic, but of course being chapter one, it's the easier clues to solve, so it's hard to tell. Definitely has potential, however I'd suggest the bugs and occasional typos be fixed in Chapter 1 if the developer wishes to sell the remaining chapters.
