The TripIt app's main strength is its main purpose, keeping all travel plans in a single, easily accessible app. It keeps my airline, hotel, and car booking information grouped together. It automatically pulls from several email systems (I use an email on outlook.com created just for travel). It will also take supporting documents, like conference registrations. The shortcomings are mainly around flights in hold that are later automatically cancelled and flights that are changed. For changed flights, it looses the ability to monitor the flight.
Seamless interface! Email your flight itineraries/hotel & other confirmations to the system which compiles the data, then the app integrates this into your phone calendar app! Sometimes the system cannot interpret the data format presented, but this appears rare.
Great app! It's perfect for keeping track of your itinerary and the pro version gives you additional options that are really cool. I love getting the flight schedule notifications and the check in one. And being able to check in from the app is cool. Not sure if the devs read this but when checking in to Virgin Australia it doesn't copy the information across in a way that allows you to immediately submit it. You need to retype the information. But at least it's all there so you know what to retype.
When I used the app for the first time in 2015, I found a lot of things missing and stopped using it eventually. The latest version though is just fantastic. The flight details and updates, the checkout and departure times, the small 'All Clear' label. These big and small changes make this app such a useful and wonderful experience.
Offers a complete schedule for your trip, including meeting times, if you choose to put them in. My husband uses this for biz trips and copies me. I can see his entire schedule, so I know when it is a good time to contact him. Good interface. Ads are tiny on free version, so they are okay by me.
Good app with bugs. I've add a trip and added flights and my accomodation separate. Even though I've added these in to the same trip I keep getting a pop up saying "missing a hotel" when you can see right under it I have an apartment included for the trip. There is also a bit of confusion around the number of different confirmation numbers you can fill in (these are optional but which one do you choose if you want to fill them in). Lastly some of the headings are confusing. I was adding accomodation to a trip and it asked for location and address. Not sure if that means city location (which is already listed under the trip) or if it means the apartment name? I added it both ways and it doesn't seem to make a difference - doesn't add it to a map, doesn't automatically suggest city location like it does for a trip location. Otherwise the app is very useful for keeping all trip details organised
