App Permissions Description:
• Storage: TripAdvisor uses Google Maps, which uses external/USB storage for caching downloaded map information.
• Your location: These permissions are needed to obtain your location so we can help you discover hotels, restaurants, and attractions around you. Network-based location gets a quick location, but is not usually pinpoint accurate. GPS is a bit slower to initially locate you, but is usually more accurate.
• Camera: The TripAdvisor phone app allows you to take a picture using your Android device camera directly.
• Network communication: Allows the app to transmit information to and from your phone via the Internet.
• Your accounts: We are using the Android Application Account Manager to store your credentials in a TripAdvisor account (you can find it in Settings under the Accounts tab). If you remove the app we also remove the TripAdvisor account on the device.
• System tools: This location provider permission provides more detailed location information so that TripAdvisor can pick the best possible location source for your current situation. The “test access” permission allows Android to check if it can use your external/USB storage for caching map information.

I used the Trip Advisor app whenever I'm in a new city to find the best dining and attractions. I've also found that it's a good place to praise exceptional businesses to help build their reputation as well as give critiques of places that didn't meet my expectations. Many times I've been contacted by places I've reviewed to either thank us for visiting or address concerns we had while we were there.

The information in the app is great to find new places. The UI of the app itself is disappointing. I went to add a new restaurant through the app and it was very difficult and frustrating to do so. The interface was not properly sized for mobile and I couldn't scroll around to reach all of the boxes. I then tried to submit feedback about this problem using the app, but that was also too difficult. It's easier to complain here so that's what I'm doing.

I I'm not happy with app. All mine reviews stored in draft. Contacted support. They adviced to use computer to upload reviews instead if phone. It is frustrating. Then after couple more emails I managed upload reviews from 6 months ago time. But same error to the current ones. And app was reinstalled, it is latest version. Lastly, English version. Will see

Battery drain in idle mode!! It used to be a good app but now it is soaked in adverts and unreal feedbacks. Search very poor and not working correctly. No option for flight and hotel. There's no basic info about places like hotels car park, number of rooms, open times, restaurant times. Stop asking me every time for location if I chose NOT! Very disappointed.

What have you done? I use to love this app. I used to look up places for advice. I use to give reviews. Now it's clunky. I'm now unable to click on a review to expand it to read the whole thing. It now bounces me back to the main list of hotels in the area. Why try to fix something that wasn't broken? Gutted.

Latest update resulted in my reviews now not submitting but hanging my mobile phone instead that I luck have a removable battery because I couldn't do anything with my phone, no fingerprint gestures, no trying to use any other program. It rendered my phone useless. U. Til they get this fixed I'd give this a 0

No link to top questions on forums. Tried switching to full site to access top questions but page refreshes back to mobile friendly and then the full site option disappears altogether. Only seems to be an issue on android. IPhone switches to full site without any issue.

I use the app mostly to browse hotels and restaurants, not arrange flights. I try to write reviews of places I visit, but the app makes it extremely irritating. I will spend 10-15 minutes writing a review, and when I submit the review it sits in my drafts folder. I go back and complete the process multiple times and the review never posts. I tried to use the help section in the app to find a solution, but there was nothing in the FAQ and no way to submit a query. Time for a New travel app, or just use Google.

I did not want to be harassed by an ap wanting my opinion as to every place I go. It's intrusive. Takes up valuable space in my phone and you can't delete the ap. I didn't even put it on my phone, it appeared one day after a phone update. Now I can't delete it. Hate the ap.

Worst application ever! I did a review and now every time I look at a site (any site in trip advisor) , my review is the first one on top... and I cannot remove it or write a review to any other business. This is crazy!

Unfortunately trying to put a truthful nice report is constantly deleted can not get past pending. Therefore the truth if a company cannot be given. Therefore this app does not reflect the truth. I would love to have used it more but cannot now trust the reviews

Very good application but it doesn't give the reviewer an option to edit his review. One has to delete and redo the whole thing. Kindly take note of this and do the required changes

I am disappointed.... I tried to post a review using the main Web page. It says it will be quicker via the app so I downloaded the app. Now I can't find a way to make my reviews at all. All I can do is read other reviews. Losing the will to live trying to post my review

Should be invaluable on the go but it's too buggy. Crashes frequently on my Nexus 5 and whenever I look at reviews for a location it only shows me all my old reviews from multiple locations.

Used the website on my phone to write a review of go natural explorers, it wouldn't let me, said I needed to write it in the app. Downloaded the app thinking it would take me right to the go natural page I was on on the site... No! Couldn't find the page to write a review. Will wait till I get home to use an actual computer. Not a fan of the app!!

It used to be great but after the last update it doesn't download cities anymore. It always says "download error". I tried over WiFi, 3G and 4G. It just doesn't work properly.

This app is spp handy to find places to eat while on vacation in a foreign country. Helps to find the restaurants too. Love the feature of saving places to plan for trips. Really wished TripAdvisor would add a feature to bring up a map with all the saved locations in a map so it would be easier to see which saves are close together for planning purposes.

On selecting a place now, I can't see the reviews - as used to be the case - because all my own reviews for other places appear instead! Is there a way of disabling this other than, say deleting every review I"ve written?

Some general things are super annoying, such as not being able to scroll through the review text and not being able to discard reviews (which are just saved as drafts). If these options exist, they are way to hard to use.

I used to like the App but the recent changes are horrible. I cannot download or see anything offline anymore, which is not handly. I normally use to download places so I can check them outside of the hotel where I don't have WiFi/data access

This app used to be fantastic, but the recent GUI update makes no sense. What used to be simple, no requires many clicks and is just frustrating. Please revert the GUI back to the old version.

It used to be really good but every time I try to upload a review it fails and if I recommend something on Facebook, it links to trip advisor and wont let me add a proper review. So annoying.

Great phone app but no app for Polar M600 Android Wear Watch. The description states the app is Android Wear enhanced but so far it doesn't appear on my watch. Any timeline for providing a version for Polar M600?

Always love trip advisors, it allows you as a traveller to see other peoples photos as well as professional pictures. Which is what you need. Informs you of different hotels gives you star ratings even in restaurents so you can decide yourself. There's no hidden agendas anywhere.

Quite good for planning a break or dining out. You need to be careful as some people are hard to please and reviews reflect this. As in life the choice is yours.

I use this app whenever I travel to find things to do along with dining at local restaurants. Finding local cuisine is half the fun while traveling. I also use this when looking for lodging.

Generally works well. Prices aren't always correct but good enough to give you a ball park figure. Well worth using for reviews for restaurants and tourist attractions

I trust the opinions/reviews on Trip Advisor for everything. Any time we are looking for a place to eat, stay or shopping I first look up Trip Advisor. The reviews are helpful, maps and directions are easy to follow. You get the best pricing for hotels or flights separately or together. I like that they give you lots of options and locations to chose from plus pictures. Love Trip Advisor app!

I wish more of the smaller motels/hotels (mom & pop places) would be listed. I've come across a few incorrect listings: wrong number, actually don't accept pets... ***UPDATED... I hate the changes. We drive between North Dakota and Texas twice a year and when we stop we don't always stop in the same place, it's usually very late at night and it's nice to see what hotels are possibly available at that moment, however with the changes it just shows me different prices for different hotels like all the other apps that are out there. I was unable to find phone numbers for the local hotels at our last stop and it just so happens that we stopped into a town where something was going on and there was only two rooms left at just one hotel....I had to use Google rather than Tripadvisor to get a hold of them ASAP. The changes have basically made TripAdvisor useless to me.
