The Steam Chat app includes many key features of the desktop Steam client chat, including:
Friends List – See who’s in game or online at a glance. You'll see your custom categories and favorites bar just like you can on your PC.
Rich Chat – Your chats get even better with higher fidelity links, videos, tweets, GIFs, Giphy, Steam emoticons, and more.
Invite Links – Add new friends on Steam with a link. Generate an invite link you can text or email.
Customizable Notifications – Mobile notifications mean you'll never miss a message or game invite. You can customize your notifications per friend, group chat, and chat channel.
Group Chats - Get everyone on the same page. Groups make it easier to do things like stay in touch with your communities and organize game night with your best friends.

Ratings and reviews

Now it just doesn't work at all. Every conversation you click on results in a crash to the OS. 2 years later. The app half functions. if you minimize the app to use another you MUST close it first otherwise it won't load. Just constant black screen. it's an absolute headache. it'll never get better.

The app is straight-up broken now. Opened it for the first time in a while, and it was just a wall of gray with nothing loading. Uninstalled and reinstalled it, but I needed to log in. Closed the app and reopened it, only to find that the wall of gray returned. Valve, you should just shut this app down and integrate a FUNCTIONAL version into the main Steam app. It would be more convenient to be able to chat with friends without having to open a separate app that's broken beyond belief.

To send an image... Press the image icon once, then press the text box, then the gear for settings, then press the emoji settings. Then back out twice and the camera menu shows up for me above the keyboard. It only works on the first time to send an image... It is iffy, depending on how many you press the image icon by the text box, before you do the rest. You might have to restart the app to get it to go as stated above. App needs fixing... Pixel 8, 16...
