Pretty decent kit. The app still has its issues. I have muted the volume, but every time the firmware updates, a woman screams about the firmware update. If I have mute in the settings, why should I hear anything on a firmware update? The auto focus is still pretty terrible, especially on higher magnifications, so a manual focus control would be welcomed. Still need some sort of mosaic facility to cover larger DSOs. It's pretty good though - and I hope these issues will soon be fixed.

Latest update is problematic. 1) images no longer get saved to my phone's photo gallery (Google photos), I can only access them through the seestar app. This means I can't easily share any of these photos anymore. 2) accessing the images stored in the telescope itself is very slow and it keeps giving me a disconnected error. Also, there are cosmetic errors in the GUI, like "stargazing" and "planetary" are oddly truncated in the icon. Just feels a little rushed this time with loss of performance

Great app, adding new features with every update. The Seestar S50 itself is designed and built well for what is does/has. The system to update firmware via the app update works flawlessly, better than competitors' apps and most astrophotography equipment. The device firmware had some quirks (e.g related to "Horizon calibration"/platesolving) in the past, but the bugs are addressed with recent updates.
