About this app

Push to Kindle lets you send web articles (news stories, blog posts) to your Kindle for a better reading experience.

"Use Push to Kindle to send any webpage you are on (phone or laptop) to your Kindle" - Kevin Kelly, Wired co-founder

"The Push to Kindle app is possibly the greatest tab-clearer ever invented" - Louisa Loveluck, Washington Post journalist

Once installed you will see 'Push to Kindle' as an option when you choose to share a web page (Share page > Push to Kindle). Select it to send the article.

Push to Kindle will then convert the web article into an e-book. It will then launch Send to Kindle using the Kindle app to let you select which device you'd like to send the article to.

It's also possible to send articles via your Kindle email address. This can be configured via the settings page of the Push to Kindle app.

WHY USE IT?

- Send long web articles to your Kindle to read later.
- Build up a reading list of articles for offline reading.
- Improve your reading experience.

PERMISSIONS AND PRIVACY

* FULL INTERNET ACCESS - when you use the app, we need to send the URL of the article to our web service for processing (to extract the article's contents and convert it to the ebook format).

General notes on privacy and caching:

If the web page you are viewing does not point to publicly accessible content, we will not be able to retrieve it. For example, if you invoke Push to Kindle (by mistake, perhaps) while you're reading an email on Gmail, or viewing your bank statement, that content will not be accessible to the Push to Kindle service run by FiveFilters.org nor to Amazon.

Content which is publicly accessible and which you process with the Push to Kindle service will be cached on the server for a short period. If you provide email details to enable delivery to your Kindle email, we do not store nor cache the supplied email address on the server once the Kindle document has been sent to Amazon for delivery to your Kindle. The email details will be saved only on your Android device.

This used to be a wonderful application. So much so that I happily supported the developers through Patreon. Now, on my fully updated Pixel 5a, any attempts to push articles generates a "fail to parse" error. These same articles can be "pushed" from a Chromebook without any problems. Two emails to customer support have gone unanswered. Very disappointing.

Hi Nick, sorry about the slow response. (Emails to help@fivefilters.org usually get a speedier response as it's handled by our customer support system.) We've now responded to try and figure out what's going here for you. Often these errors are related to specific sites, and if we get a report of the site, we can usually fix the problem.

Revising my review based in additional information from the developer. I was upset because it appeared that this new one REQUIRES installing the Amazon app (so who needs this one?), and I refuse to have that one because it requires far too many permissions. I learned that it is not correct. HOWEVER, when launching the app, it says to install the Amazon app. I recommend clarification, that the new version can be made to act just like the previous version, which has been very helpful to me.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bob. We'll try to make the text clearer in the next update.

This app is easy to use and has made sharing web articles to my Kindle simple and fast. Now, articles that I want to save for later can be sent to my Kindle where I can read them all when I have time. I use my Kindle twice as much as I used to and I don't have to stare at my phone all day.
