What makes Weather Underground different from other weather apps?

Accurate hyper-local forecasts
Our 270,000+ personal weather stations report the most accurate local weather conditions. The data that we collect from personal weather stations fills in the gaps between the airport weather stations that other weather services rely upon to generate forecasts - meaning our data is generated from actual data points in your neighborhood.

Interactive radar maps & severe weather
The most interactive weather map on mobile allows you to select from different weather overlays including current weather conditions, animated live radar, satellite, weather webcams and severe weather alerts. Ratings and reviews

2015: Great weather app. Has everything I need plus a radar widget. Perfect! Edit 2024: I liked this app for the radar but I'm knocking it down 2 stars because the service has degraded over the last four years. Radar fails to load, or only shows two frames, making it difficult to see storm patterns. I pay for the ad-free app but will no longer do so. It's easier to check the weather on their website via Chrome. Disappointing.

What does it does well. The weather is presented more concisely and clearly than most other Apps. One of the few apps that have precipitation rates, especially nice with snow. Would be 5 stars but the radar map isn't as good as the Weather Channel app, and it doesn't have lightening map like Weather Bug. The current wind indicator is consistently low and cut off, you only see half of it.

I like this app a lot - I find the choice of weekly, hourly, and monthly forecasts quite useful. I also have found the forecasts to be extremely accurate. However, the design of the app changed a few months ago, and I find the new design more awkward and less easy to glance through quickly. I believe this change came with the addition of a paid pro version, which I did not pay to access, so maybe the paid version is more streamlined. Update: smoothed and back to useful! Go Weather Underground!
