At Google Nest, we make products that are beautiful, helpful and easy to use. The Nest app is no exception.

Control your Nest thermostat, arm and disarm your Nest Secure alarm system, see your home with Nest Cam, and get an alert if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And receive notifications on your Android phone or tablet.

Nest uses sensors, algorithms, and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, turning off the heat and turning on the camera when you leave. Forget to set the alarm? It will notice, and send you a Remind Me alert.

Ratings and reviews

There is access to useful information, such as how often the heat is running and what temp was teached, which is very helpful. Adjusting the temperature is a tedious process with a slide adjustment for time and temp, and copy and paste required to avoid that process repeatedly. Having used this app for almost 2 years, I can say the adjustments still aren't easy. That option hasn't changed or improved at all. And frustratingly the scheduled changes doesn't always take effect. I don't know why.

Most features in this app work great! However, the simple experience of setting your custom temperature schedule is truly a design disaster. If you could simply type in the temperature settings you want, you could complete this task in seconds. Instead, you spend minutes scrolling your finger across your screen trying to get the exact settings you want, overshooting, oops go back, undershooting, oops now start over.

A couple years in and it disconnects often. There is a set schedule and it often reduces the temperature by 1° lower than the setting. Very frustrating. Update, 3 years in now. The camera regularly turns off or a bug in front of the camera trips the app in to sending me a notification. That never happened when I was paying for the service. Hmm...
