About this app

CutMap turns a list of parts into a cutting diagram. Type the sheet you are buying and the parts you need, and it draws every sheet to scale with each piece placed, labelled and sized, the offcuts marked, and the cuts numbered in the order you make them.

THE MAP

Each sheet is drawn to scale. Pieces carry their name and cut size, waste is hatched, and offcuts big enough to keep are outlined with their size. Pinch to zoom. Tap a piece to see what it is, or step through the cuts one at a time at the saw: "Rip at 23 1/4", cut 3 of 9, across 96"".

Every cut runs edge to edge of the piece you are holding, so the whole plan can be made on a table saw or with a track saw. The first cut on every sheet goes all the way across it.

HOW THE SAW CUTS

Set the blade kerf, a trim for factory edges that are not clean, and the size of offcut worth keeping. Choose fewest sheets, rips first, or crosscuts first. Parts that must follow the grain stay the way they are drawn; the rest can turn to fit.

EDGE BANDING

Mark which edges of a part are banded and how thick the tape is. CutMap can take the banding off the cut size, so the finished part comes out the size you typed.

INCHES OR MILLIMETRES

Millimetres, centimetres, decimal inches, or fractions rounded to 1/8, 1/16 or 1/32. Type 48 1/2, 4' 6" or 1231 mm; a row of fraction keys sits under the size box while you type.

BOARDS AND BARS TOO

A lengths project lays parts out along boards, studs, pipe or profiles, with the kerf between every cut and the offcut at the end.

WHAT TO BUY

A summary per project: sheets or lengths used per material, yield, number of cuts, total cut length, the material cost from the prices you enter, and the offcuts left over. A project can hold more than one material, such as 3/4" plywood for the cases and 1/4" hardboard for the backs.

ALSO IN THE APP

Import parts from a CSV file. A library of the sheet and board sizes you buy often. One backup file that restores onto another phone. Ten languages. On a tablet, the parts list and the map sit side by side, and the map redraws each time you save a part. It works with no connection and asks for no account.

The layout is a heuristic: it tries many arrangements and keeps the one that uses the least stock. That is a good layout, not a promise of the fewest sheets possible, so check the map before you buy or cut. The cut order is a suggestion, not a safety procedure.

WHO IT IS FOR

Cabinet makers, furniture makers, van and camper builders, and anyone buying plywood or MDF by the sheet who wants to know how many sheets to buy and where to cut them, from a cabinet cut list to a board cut list for shelving.

The standard tier lays out up to 30 pieces per project, with the map, the cut order and the summary. Unlocking lifts the limit and adds PDF cutting plans, printable part labels, CSV export and sharing a sheet as an image. Everything you have already entered stays open to you, whichever tier you are on.
