About this app

Use GoCarma to get high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) toll discounts on Dallas-Fort Worth TEXpress Lanes during weekday peak periods (6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.).

HOW IT WORKS

To qualify for a 50% toll discount, make sure that there are at least 2 people in the vehicle with the GoCarma app on their phone. The app will activate automatically and use GPS and Bluetooth to verify your HOV status, even when the app is closed.

TRAVEL WITH KIDS?

No problem, just send us a message. We'll send you an Occupant Pass that you can carry on board whenever you travel with kids in the car. This is a small and non-trackable Bluetooth tag that simply tells the GoCarma app that a 2nd person is in the vehicle.

WHERE IT WORKS

GoCarma is currently available in Dallas-Fort Worth only.

If you think your region would benefit from automated HOV toll discounts or rewards, please send us an email!

WE RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY

GoCarma only uses GPS data when you travel in a TEXpress Lane during weekday peak periods. The app does not save any location at any other locations, or at any other times. This data expires automatically after 60 days.

You can learn more about how GoCarma respects your privacy in the app's Privacy screen, or just send us a message and our team in Dallas will be happy to help.

OUR DALLAS-FORT WORTH COMMUNITY

Each weekday, GoCarma enables tens of thousands of daily commuters in Dallas-Fort Worth to save on tolls. And by choosing to travel together instead of driving alone, our GoCarma community is helping to reduce traffic, local air pollution, and CO2 emissions.

App starts at boot. Starts at random even if force stopped ... That was one of their "selling points"... Dont want to be tracked, turn off the app and location.... I do that and it still restarts..... Turning off location to avoid you tracking everything means I can't: -Pair a new Bluetooth device -ask for "x" near me -use a mapping app without you tracking -use a weather app. Just turning off location isn't an option any longer. THIS APP DOES NOT NEED TO SELF START.

Hi Andy. If you disallow access to Location Services, the GoCarma app does not use your location. The app only collects location data when you travel near a TEXpress Lane, and only during the weekday peak periods.

THIS IS A PLOY TO KEEP YOU FROM COLLECTING DISCOUNTS!!!! Another joke app to keep you from using discounts. From first glance, setup is a hassle. Must be in the vehicle to setup, I have 3 cars. So this will take some extended setup time. Have not even got to the "required separate bluetooth devices". In my case, I have 3 cars driving kids to dance, hockey, baseball, soccer or what have you. Will rarely have multiple smartphones in the car. At least with the last app I could schedule in advance.

Hi Rob. It should just take a couple of minutes setup time per vehicle. The benefit is you won't have to remember to set HOV status in future. It's also no problem to use GoCarma when you travel with kids. Please chat with us in the app or read more here: https://support.gocarma.com/en/articles/3195127-what-if-someone-doesn-t-have-a-smartphone

Great when it works as advertised. The problem is that sometimes the app (or device?) doesn't always automatically recognize that two people are in the vehicle. Our phones have the app activated, bluetooth enabled, and correct permissions set. Per the documentation, the app shouldn't need to be checked each time we get in the car. But sometimes it has status of "not in car" for one or the other of us, meaning it needs to be manually set by clicking on the app WHILE DRIVING!

Hi Howard, Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that the "Not In Car" message displays for you sometimes. It sounds like maybe your GoCarma Pass has a weak Bluetooth signal. This is something we can resolve for you if you send us a message in the GoCarma app. Thank you for your patience and for the review.
