About this app

Raindar II is an updated recreation of an Android app that worked up to Android 9 but hasn't been updated since 2013. Raindar II aims to support most features of the old app and works on Android 4.4 through the latest version of Android (Android 11).

Going somewhere and you're not sure if you need to bring your umbrella? Check Raindar II! Raindar II displays animated Doppler radar images on your Google Map. When you start Raindar II it automatically focuses on your location so you can quickly see if there is precipitation coming your way.

Raindar II works out of the box but has many configuration options. Raindar II only works for locations around the world.

Color:
- green/yellow/red is rain
- blue/white is snow

On Google TV:
- Use the D-pad for navigate up/down/left/right
- Use the media forward/back or next/previous buttons to zoom in and out

I have had raindar installed for more than 10 years and found. It was the best And easy to read. They changed the radar to pixel display. It used to be smooth display and I don't care for the pixel display, I don't know why they changed it. I'm very disappointed. I'm going to search for a radar app that has smooth display.

Hello, we had to switch radar providers as the old provider is removing their offering. Our new radar provider does not allow for a smoothing option. On the bright side, it updates every 5 minutes instead of every 10 minutes.

turned on storm tracking and it was SO busy that viewing the storm track of the cell I needed to see was impossible. confirmed tornados on the ground in the area tonight, and the screen was too cluttered with hail, thunderstorm, and every other type of storm tracks to be able to pick out the tornado's track. Should be a way to pick/choose WHAT types of storm tracks you want to see, rather than the all-or-nothing currently in the app. Otherwise, it's a decent app.

Hello - thank you for the feedback. I'll work on a simplified and filterable storm track feature for a future version.

I used to love this app but all of a sudden it became majorly pixilated and I can't find a setting that changes it. If I'm not mistaken there used to be a smoothing setting.
