Dropbox used to be fantastic, easy to use, and indispensable for those of us who need to regularly exchange large uncompressed files. More recently, though, both the app and the browser interface have become a convoluted mess. Features that used to be free are now only available with paid plans. Basic functions have different names than they used to, and are often hard to find among the constant bombardment of messages trying to get you to upgrade to a paid subscription. Not worth it.

Very frustrating to use. Storage gets used up very quickly & I think they lie about your storage being used up. I don't even have that many files on there. They'll relentlessly bombard you with pop ups harassing you to buy more storage & it isn't cheap. Creating more space is another issue. If you try to delete 30 or more photos/ videos at once the, app will freeze. There's no option to" select all" on phones. The site on PC or Mac is so slow & layout sucks.

August 2025 update: I don't use Dropbox for storage except for a few older files. I use it for the convenience of transferring large files that are too big to email. I really loathe the repetitive insistence (invitations) to A) upload/backup photos and other files, B) buy more space or subscribe. On the other hand, at least they still have the free option. Unlike another service utility I once relied on and have since left behind. Does what I need it to do. Yay! (2018)
