About this app

Ideal for students and professionals.

This app supports the FernUni certificate course. The first chapter is freely available for previewing. For the complete content, a booking through the CeW (Central European University of Applied Sciences) at the FernUniversität in Hagen is required.

The C programming language is one of the most widely used programming languages today. The use of C is not limited to specific application areas, but it does not support object-oriented programming, which was first introduced with the C++ programming language. The C language offers the possibility of implementing runtime-efficient and hardware-oriented programming. The development of cross-platform code is ensured by the standardization of C, in addition to hardware-oriented programming. Therefore, it is a frequently used programming language in systems programming.

The course is aimed at beginners to the C programming language. General basic knowledge of computer science is required to complete the course. The course is methodologically structured in such a way that knowledge of another high-level programming language is assumed.

The goal of the course is to provide a basic overview of the C programming language, taking into account both the 1978 Kernighan/Ritchie language draft and the ANSI C standard.

The written exam can be taken online or at a FernUniversität Hagen campus location of your choice. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a university certificate. Students can also have earned ECTS credits certified for a Certificate of Basic Studies.

Further information is available on the FernUniversität Hagen website under CeW (Center for Electronic Continuing Education).
