Great simple app that gets the job done (but not in sunlight). I used it to check the idle speed on my outboard. A bit of white duct tape on the flywheel and in twilight it worked well. Phone LED's are not bright enough to use in sunlight, and they aren't brief enough flashes to give a true photo grade strobe effect, but it got the job done. Ads are not obtrusive. An improvement would be a bigger frequency slider. It's hard to get the right spot when you are looking at the strobe device.

Likely I just did not know how to use it correctly. I got a spinning toy (similar to a top) and I wanted to know how fast I could spin it. I affixed a piece of reflective tape on it, got it spinning, and pointed the tachometer to it. Got approximately same result no matter how fast I spun it. Probably used incorrect settings or something.
