I use the live scan feature. It usually gives a minor key. Sometimes it's the relative minor to the major key that the song is actually in but other times the song is actually in the minor key. You have to figure that out on your own. If the song feels sad, it's probably a minor key. When it showed a major key, it was usually wrong. Stopping & scanning again would sometimes give a minor key & then what I said before applies. Every now& then it'll miss the key all together but not often.

Honestly? Pretty solid. If I sing a song into it, it does a pretty good job of getting the correct key (or getting close and giving me 2-3 possible options).

ive been using this to sing my own songs into to see what notes and key my voice register, it was correct at the key. for this reason alone I would buy it, except... if you use the function for adding chords/notes/keys sections, there is no way to change or add a key without it being placed at the end. So if you messed up the first (like me) you have to delete and re add everything to get your order back. Make some changes here and i'd donate. not used it for known songs so cant comment.
