About this app

If you could design the most perfect social network, what would it look like? We asked this and landed on Retro, a new social app that feels like a breath of fresh air.

Retro is a weekly photo journal that (1) brings you closer to the people you actually care about and (2) helps you appreciate your own life - all without hijacking your time and attention.

So dust off those photos that are just sitting in your camera roll and spread some joy in the world.

Say hi to us at founders@retro.app

And if you’re still reading, here are some reasons to try Retro:

- EASY TO START: Start by choosing photos you’ve already taken and backfill the weeks on your profile with the photos and videos you want to remember.

- NO PRESSURE: Everything was designed with your comfort in mind. Your friend list is private. Likes on your posts are private. No captions required. Update any part of your profile anytime.

- PRINT & SHIP POSTCARDS: Spread some joy through snail mail by printing your photo as a high quality postcard and sending it to anyone in the world via USPS first class. Free for now.

- MONTHLY RECAPS: Create a beautiful photo collage or video slideshow from the photos you’ve shared from the week, month, or year. Then share via text or Instagram in a tap.

- GROUP ALBUMS: Start a private album and drop the link in your group chat to collect and share photos after events. Perfect for parties, projects, friends, parents, and couples.

- GROUP MESSAGING: Retro is now an all-in-one home for groups large and small, with the ability to share photos, videos, and notes privately in Albums and start group chats in Messages.

This is the app we wanted for our family and friends, and we’re so excited to share it with you. We hope you love it.

I like it but again the one problem is that not ALL albums can be accessed meaning some of the pictures that i want to add cant be accessed because it only seems to show the albums that are processed by the google photos app (I found another way tho so ill use it either way itd be nice if the app didnt rely on the google photos app to access pics)

Thanks for trying Retro! We've got you covered! You can select "choose from your camera roll" at the bottom of the "Add to your week" screen, which will open your default photos app. You can also add to your Retro by selecting "Retro" from the Android share menu in other apps. If you have any more feedback, we'd love to hear at founders@retro.app

Could it be the photos uploaded from my drive will be high quality? I tried to upload many times the quality changes, it has glitches effect when I look at the photos. I would really use this app as my social photo journal if it gets fixed.

It is very good, but can you please change the file format for the photos when saving/downloading. It is not jpg or png when I download a photo from this app, rather it is like random numbers named then (.) on the last, making it like a random file. Lastly, I'm new to this app so I just want to know, does this app lessen the photo and video quality? Thanks!

Hi there - thanks using Retro! Sorry to hear you're having troubles downloading images - that certainly sounds like a bug that we'll get fixed up in the next version of the app - keep an eye out! Photos/videos are saved in high quality, though not the original size. If there's any other feedback, we'd love to hear from you at founders@retro.app
