DeviceView Host is a remote IT support agent for Android. It is intended for installation on devices managed by an IT support team that uses the DeviceView platform — for example, your company's helpdesk, a managed service provider supporting your business devices, or a school IT team supporting student devices.
This app has no standalone functionality. It is useful only after your device is enrolled into a DeviceView organization using an enrollment token your IT team provides.
What DeviceView Host does:
- Lets an authorized IT operator from your organization start a screen-sharing support session on your device, with your explicit, per-session consent.
- During an active session: the operator can see your screen, talk to you (microphone, if you enable it), see through your camera (only if you accept), chat with you in-session, transfer files between your device and theirs, and — when the optional companion add-on (DeviceView Bridge) is installed and enabled — perform taps and key presses on your behalf so they can fix problems hands-on.
- All session activity is logged for your organization's audit purposes; the operator's actions are visible to you on-screen.
- Reports the device's location to your organization, only when you grant location permission, so your IT team can locate a managed or lost device.
Disclosure — please read:
- A persistent system notification appears for the entire duration of every support session. Tapping "End session" in the notification ends the session immediately.
- Android's own screen-capture, microphone, and camera indicators are visible whenever the corresponding stream is active.
- Your screen (and audio, if you enable it) is shared live with the IT operator during the session so they can help you. DeviceView does not record or store the session; the content is transmitted to the operator in real time and not kept afterward.
- Your IT team's privacy practices apply on top of ours. Contact your IT admin for questions about what is collected and how to have it deleted.
What DeviceView Host does NOT do:
- It does not let anyone access your device when no session is active and you have not consented.
- It does not collect your contacts, calendar, SMS, or browsing history.
- It does not display advertisements.
- It does not collect data for marketing.
Companion app:
- For full input-injection support, install the free "DeviceView Bridge" app (link in DeviceView Host's settings). The add-on adds operator-initiated tap and key-event capabilities. Without the add-on, DeviceView Host still works for screen viewing, voice, chat, and file transfer — but the operator cannot click for you.
Requires:
- Android 8.0 (API 26) or higher.
- An enrollment token from a DeviceView organization (your IT team provides this).
