About this app

The DeviceView Bridge is a companion app for the main DeviceView Host. It does nothing by itself.

What it does (when paired with the DeviceView Host and during an active remote IT support session you have explicitly accepted):

- Lets the IT operator you have just accepted a session from perform taps, key presses, and back / home / recents navigation on your device on your behalf. The IT operator clicks where you need help; your device responds.
- Lets the IT operator read on-screen UI elements (button labels, content descriptions) so they can drive the device reliably across different screen sizes and rotations.
- Lets the IT operator capture occasional high-resolution screenshots when the live video stream is not clear enough for diagnostics.
- Syncs your clipboard with the operator's clipboard during the session so they can paste configuration values, command lines, or recovery codes for you.

This app is useless without the DeviceView Host. Install that first. The DeviceView Host does most of the work; this add-on exists only because Android requires accessibility-service capabilities to be hosted in their own APK and granted by you in Accessibility Settings.

How consent works:

- After install, you must explicitly enable the add-on's AccessibilityService in your device's Accessibility Settings. Android shows a system warning before you can enable it; please read it.
- Once enabled, the add-on still does nothing until the DeviceView Host binds it during a remote support session that YOU have accepted unless you have turned on unattended mode.
- The DeviceView Host shows a persistent system notification any time a session is active, with a one-tap End Session button.
- You can revoke this add-on at any time by disabling DeviceNexus Bridge in your device's Accessibility Settings, or by uninstalling the add-on.

Security:

- The add-on has no internet access. It does not send any data anywhere on its own. It exposes its capabilities only to the DeviceView Host, and only when that app's APK is signed with the same publisher certificate as ours. A malicious app cannot drive this add-on.

Requires:
- Android 8.0 (API 26) or higher.
- The DeviceView Host installed.
- An enrollment into a DeviceView organization (your IT team provides this).
