Sentry LAN Scanner helps you see what is connected to your local network from your Android phone.
Scan your Wi-Fi, review device details, and spot new devices with a clean on-device workflow.
Use Sentry when you want a quick view of the devices sharing your home, office, lab, or travel network. It scans the local subnet, lists responsive devices, and helps you inspect useful network details without creating an account or setting up a dashboard.
KEY FEATURES
- Discover devices on your active local network
- See IP addresses, detected MAC addresses, hostnames, vendors, latency, gateway, and this-device labels when available
- Track which devices are new since the last scan
- Rename known devices so your network list is easier to read
- Mark devices as trusted for cleaner follow-up scans
- Open a device detail page and scan common ports on that host
- Review Wi-Fi details such as network name, gateway, DNS, subnet, band, channel, frequency, signal, and link speed when Android allows access
- Stop or refresh a scan whenever you need a new snapshot
- Use phone and tablet layouts with bottom navigation on compact screens and side navigation on larger screens
- Send optional feedback from the About screen
WHAT YOU CAN CHECK
Sentry gives you a practical local-network snapshot. The Devices screen shows discovered hosts as they answer, labels the gateway and your current phone, and highlights devices that were not known before the scan started. The detail screen lets you add a custom name, mark a device as trusted, and run a focused common-port check.
The Wi-Fi screen shows the active network configuration Android makes available to apps. Depending on the device and permission state, that can include the network name, access point, local IP address, subnet, gateway, DNS servers, interface, radio band, channel, frequency, signal level, and link speed.
HOW IT HELPS
Sentry is designed for people who want a clear network view without a complicated admin console. It can help you check whether your phone sees the expected devices, identify a gateway, notice unfamiliar hosts, and keep simple names for devices you recognize.
The app is useful for:
- Home Wi-Fi checks
- Small office or studio network reviews
- Router setup and troubleshooting
- Lab, classroom, and maker-space networks
- Travel routers and temporary networks
- Anyone who wants a clearer device list before changing network settings
LOCAL WORKFLOW
Network discovery runs from your device against the local network you are connected to. Sentry uses bounded parallel checks so results can appear while the scan is still running, then stores known device names, trusted status, and last-seen details locally on your phone for the next scan.
PRIVACY AND DATA
Sentry requests Wi-Fi related permissions only to show network details that Android protects, such as the connected network name and access-point information. On Android 8-12 this uses foreground location permission; on Android 13 and newer this uses Nearby Wi-Fi Devices. Sentry does not use GPS, background location, analytics, accounts, purchases, or push notifications.
The optional feedback form sends your message and optional reply email through Web3Forms, along with app and device diagnostics needed to understand the report. Feedback is only sent when you choose to submit it.
