I don't know why some people don't like the icon. I love it. It's attractively simple and I hope it stays. I've been aboard since the apps inception and so I've seen it's growth into a sophisticated yet easy to use audiobook reader. I've never had any regrets for choosing it because Alex, the developer has taken care of this little treasure by constantly finding new ways to make it better even though to my way of thinking it was already excellent. A purchase that was well worth the money and just keeps on giving.
You can't do a whole lot better than this app if you want to listen to audio books. It has everything you can imagine to tailor your reading experience from equalizer settings, speed settings, the ability to auto-pause, rewind options after pausing, character lists, etc. If you're a fan of audio books, this app is for you!
This app is the best audiobook app available for Android. The back button closing the app was frustrating at first, but I've found in the settings that that can be changed to return to the library instead. One thing I would like to see added is the ability to over ride the system audio rules and ignore audio focus to allow more than one audio stream at the same time, as I like to sometimes have music playing in the background while listening to an audio book or even play games while listening to a book.
Lately the app is having multiple issues with m4a playback - skipping, volume changes, cracking, echo and other filter artifacts, etc Edit 1. Although changing the decoder from "App" to "System" in "Trobuleshooting -> Decoder" does mitigate some of the more severe artifacts, periodic skipping persists. This happens only for m4a, though - mp3 seems unaffected. So if your library is mostly mp3, you should be OK.
The app is fine, but when I previously used the app the ability to increase the playback speed was not limited to the "full" paid version of the app. As it was one of the features that convincede to use the app in the first place I am disappointed and will probably seek out a replacement app in the future.
I bought this app over 4 year ago and it is one of the apps I use the most. It is super simple to use. The developer has added a ton of features over the years that make this even better. I Really like that you get the ability to slow down or speed up the audio book with a tap. The equalizer while serviceable would be better if it had some presets. I also would enjoy seeing more options to customize the look of the app, specifically more background color options. All in all this is one of the best apps I have used and highly recommend this app.
