Paper Notebook Backup & Search is designed to support your handwritten journals, notes, letters - whatever you keep on paper.
There’s nothing like the tactile experience of putting pen to paper. That does come with some trade-offs vs digital tools - until now! Paper Notebook scans your notebook pages to let you:
- Search for any text in your notebook collection
- Export PDFs with full text search and text selection
- Securely back up copies of your notebooks (via your cloud file storage provider of choice)
- Access information from your notebooks when you don't have them close to hand
- Copy & paste information like phone numbers, meeting notes, tables, or anything you want to copy to a digital destination.
Do you have pages that change over time? Paper Notebook automatically recognizes updated vs new pages by matching page numbers (even handwritten page numbers). It's a great time saver for bullet journals and personal planners!
You control your data! Export your data to use it wherever you want. Your scanned pages are saved on your phone, and with any cloud backup services that you opt in to using - Paper Notebook does not store your data on its servers. Your data is *not* used for AI training.

Paper Journal has been renamed to Paper Notebook
I realized that the app is broadly useful to anyone with handwritten notes,
journals, letters, etc. The media journals are written in are usually called
"notebooks", but not all notebooks are journals. So I hope the new name is more
inclusive. I still intend to support journaling use cases - especially Bullet
Journals.
