About this app

With the “ePassports” app, you can easily, securely and digitally show your driving license, your registration details, your proof of identity and your proof of age in Austria on your smartphone – during a traffic stop or in your private environment. Share your data simply at the touch of a button and completely contactless. There will be no data transfer without your consent.

This is how it works:
1. Log in to the “Digital Office” app with your ID Austria or an eIDAS notified eID (as defined in Art. 6 Para. 1 eIDAS-VO).
2. Download the “eIDs” app free of charge.
3. Protect the app using fingerprint function or facial recognition.
4. Load your digital evidence into the “eIDs” app using the ID Austria with full functionality or with an eIDAS notified eID (in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 eIDAS-VO) (in this case the data must be available in an Austrian register ).
5. When checking, simply show the QR code that is created in the app for your digital proof. The person you are talking to scans the QR code and can retrieve the necessary data.

Technical interfaces are available for verification by the Austrian executive, but not for verification by foreign authorities.

You need:
· The “Digital Office” app installed on the same device
· An ID Austria with full functionality (you can find more information about this at oe.gv.at/u/idaustria)
or an eIDAS notified eID (as defined in Art. 6 Para. 1 eIDAS-VO)
· Enabled fingerprint function or facial recognition
· For the digital driving license: a valid Austrian credit card
Driver's license
· For the digital registration data: a registration certificate issued in Austria

You don’t need a new user account for the “e-ID” app; you simply identify yourself using your ID Austria. ID Austria is the further development of the cell phone signature and offers secure two-factor authentication for digital services. To do this, log in to the “Digital Office” app with your ID Austria and allow the eIDs app to access the required information. Both apps are secured by fingerprint function or facial recognition.

The app is constantly being developed and new evidence will be added in the future.

After regularly giving government's apps 1 star ratings because of fail after fail after fail.. it worked. several times. Now I didn't use it for a few weeks, wanted to test it.. logged out, all documents gone (cool if I would just need to show them to an officer, just great). Login needs a second device, and shows "Ein unbekannter Fehler ist aufgetreten" error message. I am a software developer for 30 years, so I do not fulfil the basic prerequisites of using apps..

It works with the full IDAustria, still it doesn't excuse the need of a seperate app from the Digitales Amt app. Also needing to click through what feels like 20 screens just to do the thing that the app should do is not good UX.

Would give it 0 stars if it was possible. It always shows me an error message saying that a problem occurred during login. Even after uninstalling this app and the "Digitales Amt" app several times. Please fix this!
