Detector Maps is the field tool that keeps you on the gold. Built by geologists for real prospectors and metal detectorists across Australia, the United States, New Zealand and Canada, it pairs advanced geological data with rock-solid GPS so you spend your time on high-potential ground, not guessing.

Whether you are swinging a metal detector for gold, panning a creek or hiking into remote country, it puts serious geological intelligence in your pocket - and it works offline, where the gold actually is. Gold detecting is metal detecting, so the same tools help any detectorist work smarter.

WHY WE REQUEST "ALLOW ALL THE TIME" LOCATION ACCESS
Detector Maps only uses background location when you switch breadcrumb tracking ON. This keeps an unbroken log of your journey while your phone is idle or the screen is off, and saves battery. Disable it anytime in the app or your device settings.

WAYPOINT MARKING AND FIND LOGGING
Drop waypoints on gold finds, detector targets, quartz outcrops, old workings and camps. Add names, notes and categories, then sync securely so your finds are never lost.

REAL-TIME GPS NAVIGATION
Track your live position and watch leases, boundaries, geology and terrain update around you as you move - a GPS built for gold prospecting and metal detecting.

Ratings and reviews

Absolutely zero customer support. Credit card expired this month so they completely blocked account access until resolved. However, with locked account, there is no possible way to update current card info in order to resolve. There is no web site enabling independent log in to facilitate card/billing update. The app's playstore "contact creator" email is a fully automated dead end with no means of follow up interactive human communication/oversight.

they charge extra for lidar now. you used to be able to just pay their normal subscription and access everything. now the lidar is an extra AUD$40-$150 (price depending on state) per year on top of your regular subscription. only reason i downloaded this was for the lidar. the rest of the info on this app can be found for free on other sites. please explain why you've locked out the only good thing about the app

5 ☆☆☆☆☆... I love this app I'm a Gold Prospector/Miner and I use Detector Maps pretty often and for quite a few different reasons. To name a few. #1. in conjunction with my drone use it looking fir new areas to prospect. #2. Checking land status. #3. also use in conjunction with Chat Gtp ai to provide higher resolution map pictures.

NEW: Offline LiDAR (Premium) — download high-res LiDAR hillshade for any area and use it fully offline in the field. Coverage is checked before download, with live progress and a dedicated on/off toggle. Only California - more coming soon

We also rebuilt location tracking: a more accurate puck (consistent on Android & iPhone), more reliable trail recording with auto-resume, smoother follow-mode and better background tracking. Plus a faster map, JP2/PDF map import, My Data export and many fixes.
