About this app

ABC KIDS listen is a dedicated audio app for preschoolers, brought to you by the ABC.

Our aim is to provide children aged 0-5 and their families with a way to access the music and stories they love from the ABC in a trusted online environment. ABC KIDS listen cares about providing Australian families with a safe space for their children to access educational and entertaining audio content.

You and your child can listen to our live radio stream, which has been designed to suit the changing needs of a child’s day and night, or simply choose a program on demand that best suits your needs at that moment.

Our programs are inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework of Australia, which encourages children to learn through play. The high quality audio programs give preschoolers a space where they can get their bodies moving and brains working. Explore, learn, and play, and later wind down, rest, and sleep.

Episodes can be downloaded and will then be available for seven days in the app before expiring, allowing for listening without an internet connection.

It’s free and commercial free. Other ABC apps designed specifically for preschoolers and their families include ABC KIDS iview and ABC KIDS PLAY.

The app is designed for devices running OS 7 and above.

Ratings and reviews

While the app worked reasonably well the first few times I used it, it is no longer working at all. My 4yo loves the stories but I can't play them - or anything else on the app - anymore. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, I even updated my phone. Nothing works. So disappointing!! Would love to know how to resolve this issue because the app is a great concept!

Update: I can now replay the same tracks, thank you! I love the content of this app, but I am increasingly frustrated with the app itself. It's a buggy mess! We love the sleep through music, but once we've listened to the entire 59mins, 9 times out of 10 I can't replay the same track again! Even after closing the app and reopening, I even rebooted my phone and it still won't replay the same tracks. Have a lot of difficulty with casting to the tv, and downloading the tracks too.

If it were possible to un-update an app, my quality of life would be greatly improved. This app was a life saver for us at bedtime, before it got a big overhaul we had zero issues, but since then it's been a nightmare, almost literally. Stops playing randomly, won't start at all, becomes unresponsive for no reason whatsoever, randomly restarts through the night.
