About this app

The app 112 Belgium is the official app for the Belgian emergency services. Once you are registered in the app, you can make an emergency call with the app for ambulance, fire department or police assistance. If you use the app, the emergency centres automatically get an indication of your location and who you are. This information is normally transmitted over internet, however, when no internet connection is available, SMS is used to transmit this information to the emergency services (the SMS destination used for this, is free of charge). When you cannot communicate by speech, the operator can exceptionally also activate a chat function. For more information visit https://112.be/

The overall app is good enough to use and clear to many ages of users. It would be nice if GPS turns on automatically when opening the app or calling the services. When putting in the ICE contacts it is easier to have an option to select a number from your phonebook in your phone so you dont have to manually put it in. Maybe also include a silent call funtion (not only for those who are hearing and/or speach impaired)but for cases of abuse,... And an updated look since the app looks a bit dated.

App is maybe not sharp/nice looking, but it is intuitive and eady to use. Most importantly it does what it is for though the operator answering an emergency call always asks name and location even though it should be forwarded by the app; so maybe this functionality is not working as it is supposed to. It would be great if support for Android Auto could be added such that you can easily call while driving in the car. (e.g. when there is an obstacle on the road).

Thanks for your feedback and suggestion. It may be possible that the operator is simply verifying the information and location. For the suggestion it is noted and could be implemented in future iterations of the 112 app, thanks for the contribution. Best regards, B.

I needed an ambulance this morning. The app did not work: no call was placed when I tapped the ambulance button. The app momentarily scrolled away to a black screen, but a second later came back to its home screen without the call being placed. All permissions the app requested have been granted but Location was disabled at the device level. The app needs to be more robust.

Thanks for the updated response Jan. Our development team is looking for the culprit that caused this and will try to fix this with upcoming updates. Please make sure you always download the latest version. For now you could try reinstalling the app, otherwise look out for our newest update. Best regards, Benjamin
