About this app

Not just an app, not just a personal trainer. Future pairs you with a real coach you meet face to face on video calls, who builds your training around your life — at home, in the gym, outside or on the road.

Future matches you with one of the best personal trainers in the country, who builds workouts around your goals, your fitness level and the equipment you have.

WHAT YOU GET WITH FUTURE PRO:

- Video calls with your trainer: Meet your trainer face to face. Your training starts on your kick-off call — your coach builds your first plan with you on it, so booking it is the first thing you do after joining. Schedule more calls whenever you want to review progress or reset your training. Your trainer calls you in the app and you answer on your phone.

- Unlimited access to your own personal trainer: We'll match you with a trainer who has experience specifically with your goals. Between calls, your trainer will communicate as much as you need to keep you excited, on track, and consistent. Train all month on Future for the price of a single traditional session.

- Weekly training plan built just for you: Workouts are built just for you, and no two members have the same workouts. Rest days are just as important. Your trainer can include any activity you enjoy doing, including cardio classes, yoga, or the spontaneous hike.

- Guided workout movements: Detailed audio and video guides for each movement, and your trainer can check your form whenever you need.

- Unlimited flexibility: No more cancelation fees or workout times that don't fit your schedule. Your trainer can also adjust your workout anytime if you're having a busy day or if you're on the road.

Future works with any Wear OS 3.0+ watch, such as the Google Pixel Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Track workouts and daily activity from your wrist, see your live heart rate and training zones during workouts, and add the Future complication to your watch face to see today's workout.

Future members achieve more than they thought was possible; that's the fitness of Future.

Future membership is USD $199/month.

What Future reads from Health Connect:

• Workouts - Exercise sessions recorded by your other apps and devices, so your full training history sits alongside your Future sessions.

• Steps - Your daily step count, shown on your home screen and used for the step goals you set with your trainer.

• Distance - Your walking and running distance, so miles you cover in other apps count toward your Total Mileage chart and mileage goals.

• Calories burned - Your total daily energy burn, shown in your daily activity summary.

• Weight - Your weight history, used for your progress chart and any weight goal you set with your trainer.

• Resting heart rate - Your resting heart rate history, charted as a recovery and fitness trend.

• Heart rate - Heart rate recorded during activity, used to enrich workouts imported from other apps.

What Future writes to Health Connect:

• The workouts you complete in Future, with the heart rate and active calories recorded during them.

• The weight entries you log against a weight goal in Future.

Why We Need This Data

Your trainer reviews your activity each week and adjusts your program around it. Reading your activity means training you do outside Future still counts. Writing your workouts back keeps your other apps up to date. Your health data is used only to deliver your coaching and show your progress. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

There is an option to hide calorie counts (not all of us want to know this information!) but after the new update, despite having this option turned on, calories are displayed prominently on the homepage. This is a huge trigger to people who struggle with weight and metrics. Why have an option to turn it off if it's not doing anything? Additionally, new app is very buggy and does not let you modify the schedule (this feature seems to just be broken). Frustrating that this wasn't better tested.

I really love this app, but I do wish it was more Android compatible. I can't even track my weight because I don't have an iPhone. Seems counterproductive. It constantly disconnects my watch/HR and sometimes just freezes on the same number. Its really frustrating to not have the same accessibility. The access to a live trainer, flexible workouts, and even the actual workouts are great though and I haven't found anything better so I probably won't be going anywhere.

I really enjoy this service, but the app could use a serious functionality upgrade. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to view my recent history while in a workout, if I want to refer back to last week's weight, reps, etc. The ability to slot in an extra set, e.g. when progressing in strength training, would also be a big help in getting my trainer accurate information. And that artificial instructor voice is *so* grating that I had to shut it off.
