About this app

Begena is an elegant and authentic app dedicated to the Begena, offering a free and realistic experience for users. With this app, you can simulate playing any Begena song directly on your phone, using a virtual string displayed on the screen.

The Begena, a 10-stringed instrument, holds significant cultural and spiritual value within the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church, often used during religious events. Traditionally known as David's Harp, legend suggests it was a divine gift to King David from God. Known for its distinct and soothing sound, the Begena is traditionally played by plucking the strings with one's fingers.

Designed to broaden the appeal of the Begena and serve as a comprehensive learning tool, this app offers detailed insights into the instrument's components, its symbolic meanings, the various scales employed, as well as training songs and poems. It also features a tuning function to aid users in understanding and adjusting pitches according to different scales.

We are eager for this app to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the Begena to enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds. Your feedback and suggestions for further enhancements are highly welcomed and appreciated.

Ratings and reviews

Begena is only Ethiopian Orthodox Church instrument that can be used only for church songs and have 10 strings. I appreciate your work but you didn't have to make it loss it's shape and character because you want to make it easy or for simplicity purpose. Your App need revision...... put the begena as it is with its 10 strings and also try to add it's መወጠሪያ ፣ ብርኩማ ፣ እንዚራ ፣ ገበቴ..... Cause after trained with your App no one can practice it using the real one with the structure you gave it now.

this app is very helpful for begena players and it is so underrated app but in this app we can't play the begena by touching two string to play it . the other one is in this app the creator of this app didn't create the original structure of begena for example the string of the original begena is 10 but in this app it has 5 strings he wanna create it for beginners it is easy to play . finally this app is the most interesting app ever in Ethiopia . dima !!!
