Learn how robot navigation is evaluated before a controlled field test.
Robot Navigation Academy is an offline-first educational lab with visual lessons, quizzes, flashcards, a glossary, and a deterministic 2D rover simulator. Explore how maps, sensing, noise, latency, terrain, localization, planning, control, test scenarios, and evidence affect a navigation result.
Learn
- Work through 12 illustrated, step-by-step lessons with worked examples, interactive try-it activities, and scored checkpoints.
- Search lessons, bookmark topics, answer 20 scenario quizzes, and review 28 flashcards with an on-device schedule.
- Explore 53 robot-navigation and validation terms.
- Track progress through beginner, intermediate, and advanced material.
Experiment
- Build 2D scenarios with walls, slopes, no-go zones, static obstacles, moving pedestrian markers, visual sensor markers, and configurable sensor faults.
- Run a fixed-timestep, seed-driven simulator with A* path planning, lidar, pose noise, delay, bias, scheduled dropout, stuck samples, and terrain and friction effects.
- Play, pause, single-step, rewind, reset, and change playback speed.
- Inspect planned and executed paths, coordinate frames, ground truth and estimated pose, lidar rays, an illustrative view cone, costmap inflation, collision map, coverage heatmap, sensor health, and live metrics.
- Run a seeded eight-trial validation campaign with six development cases, two locked holdouts, predeclared acceptance criteria, P95 reporting, and failure clustering.
Compare and report
- Archive experiment manifests and run metrics on the device. Archived maps and replay frames cannot yet be reopened.
- Compare two recorded runs using seeds, outcomes, collision counts, timing, path efficiency, localization error, clearance, and coverage. The app distinguishes a deterministic replay check from a controlled engine-version regression; comparison remains metrics-only.
- Export a run ledger as CSV and a capstone learner self-assessment as Markdown through Android's document picker.
- Earn an on-device course-completion certificate after every lesson, two recorded runs, all eight capstone stages, and all evidence checks. The certificate shows a transparent score based on saved quiz and simulator results and can be saved or shared as a PNG.
Practice
- Work through an eight-stage capstone learner self-assessment. It does not certify a robot or approve a field test.
- Try non-executing Python and C++ structure exercises.
- View bundled read-only sample assignments and an on-device teacher snapshot.
The core learning content and simulator work offline without an Academy4Tech account or cloud sync. Your preferred certificate name, learning records, settings, experiments, runs, and certificate record stay on the device unless you explicitly export or share a report or certificate.
When online, this release may request one clearly labeled Google-served native ad after its privacy and age-treatment checks. A packaged Academy4Tech house message appears while consent is unresolved, an ad is loading, the device is offline, or no ad is available. The placement can be hidden for the current app session. See the privacy policy for SDK data practices.
Designed for learners aged 13 and older. Robot Navigation Academy is an educational simulator, not a certified safety system, a production robot controller, proof that a real robot is ready for deployment, or a substitute for independent review and controlled physical testing.
