Build a network from a root device, named cables and connected devices. During a trace, mark an endpoint working, failing or inconclusive. Link Trace compares its path with the other observations and shows which devices or cables could still explain the results under a single stable fault model. When another endpoint check would separate the possibilities, it explains which check to try and what each outcome would leave.
Conflicting evidence stays visible. If the checks cannot be explained by one stable fault, the app says so. Elements along the same unbranched connection can remain indistinguishable, and a possible fault never becomes a confirmed finding automatically. Record your own resolution when you have inspected the problem.
Each session keeps its original connection diagram and check history. Editing tomorrow's network does not rewrite yesterday's evidence. Review recorded checks and unresolved sessions locally, without a service account or a connection to a server. Link Trace does not discover devices, scan networks, capture traffic or ask for network passwords.
A manual troubleshooting aid, not a network scanner or a guaranteed diagnosis. The model supports rooted trees of up to 40 devices and assumes comparable checks of the same service. Intermittent faults, partial device failures and multiple simultaneous faults can fall outside that model.
Link Trace helps you map device connections and record manual checks.
