Thank God I didn't cancel Sling tv. I was excited about this app. 1st couple hours looked really good. Almost cancelled sling on the spot, I the middle of a football game the service drops. Didnt have service for about 2 days, which counted against my free trial I never was able to use. Then service comes been back for about 2-3 days. Today, Sunday night football no service again. I never had service problems with Sling, even when I travel. Hope they fix this quick, done properly this app can change TV.
Not a cable cord-citing option: streaming is very spotty. Whenever you attempt to rewind any Watchlist or On Demand content, you get the buffering rectangle or a frozen screen. The program is very unstable which makes the viewing experience poor. Why won't DirecTV & AT&T commit to delivering a quality product - esp. since they're changing people for it?!?
QThis app isn't done very well and it's the commercials. It keeps refreshing over and over. Commercials might be planned to go for 3 minutes but they take 20 minutes because they keep refreshing every 10 seconds. Hulu used to have the same problem and they fixed it. I would think that a company as big as DirecTV could do a lot better right out of the box. I would not recommend this app even though it is a good deal through ATT with the unlimited data plan that actually is limited. I paid two months in advance so if it gets better I will come back and update my rating.
Having major issues going this to work when my brand new Chromecast. It seems to have no issue when the first generation Chromecast but the latest rarely streams. I've reset, restart, etc and it's awful. The new Chromecast works with everything else fine. Lacks some basic features I would have expected to have. Definitely need to add DVR capability and push an app to smart TV manufacturers so we can use physical remotes for choosing channels, etc. Nice concept, saves over half compared to UVerse.
The performance of this app/service is not good. For a heavy hitter in the telecommunications industry, releasing such a buggy product is shameful. If you want to compete with the other services offered by Sling, YouTube, Hulu, and PS Vue then release two separate apps - one stable and one beta.
if the company would put out a press release, stating what improvements are coming.....I could maybe rate as a 3. the whole thing needs work before it's ever a 4 or 5. *edit: there have been zero improvements with the fire TV app. I still can't watch TV except by phone or laptop.
Performance improvements, increased stability and bug fixes.
